Government U-turn on Zero Carbon Homes policy
The Government’s recent ‘productivity plan’ has effectively scapped their previous policy to achieve all new homes as zero carbon by 2016. This is a disappointment to those who have campaigned for reducing our energy demands further; however it gives developers certainty that Part L of the Building Regulation will not be changing next year.
There had been much debate over the definition of ‘zero carbon’ with ‘Allowable Solutions’ proposed to make up shortfalls which had already diluted the objective to some degree.
