RECYCLE AND RE-USE OF EXISTING BUILDINGS

DATE

We have extensive experience of re-using existing buildings and materials, designing them to sit harmoniously within the landscape. We have collaborated flexibly under a variety of contract conditions and with diverse teams of specialist consultants on a wide range of projects.

We are attracted by the opportunity to explore innovative design solutions as part of a consultant team, working within an unusual set of constraints to deliver exceptional buildings in significant landscapes.

Resilience is key in our projects in the health and education sectors, where the robustness of our design is routinely tested. Our knowledge of the durability of products and finishes is proven, and our understanding of the tried and tested methods of construction provides a solid foundation for prudent innovation where required.

Sustainability is of fundamental importance in our work and goes hand in hand with our commitment to resilience utilizing off-site construction, and energy efficiency measures including installation of photovoltaic panels and air source heat pumps on several Carbon Reduction Schemes across Somerset.

Our philosophy is that healthy spaces are a result of good planning and placemaking. Building nature into the design of buildings can support overall health and human well-being. We think about how places are designed, bearing in mind that health is affected by places where people spend most of their time, including school, work and in the activities of daily living.

We believe the best design comes out of collaborative working between the design team, the client and consultants, in order to achieve the requirements of the brief in a cost effective and timely manner.

Good buildings result from people working well together, sharing a commitment to a common goal. Personal relationships remain fundamental to who we are as Stone + Partners, and these connections are a key aspect of our collaboration with our colleagues and our service to our clients.
