Handover of new state-of-the-art classroom at Ruishton C of E School.

This 2-stage design and build project, in collaboration with the Harris Bros & Collard, Hookway Partnership and The Oak Partnership Trust, saw the demolition of the old block to make way for a modern timber-framed building. It boasts a beautiful cedar-clad exterior, aluminum windows, DDA-compliant facilities, and even PV panels on the roof for sustainability!

The proposed scheme comprised the infilling of an external space between two internal spaces covered by a single roof to form the new entrance lobby. The development also included the replacing and enlarging of 4 no. windows on the front façade and over cladding of areas on the elevations.

As part of the King Alfred School expansion programme, Stone & Partners were commissioned to design a new classroom block and dining hall to house dance studio/dining hall, commercial kitchen, changing facilities/toilets, and three new classrooms.

Due to examinations now taking place throughout the academic year, the Wellington School wished to provide a dedicated examination hall which could also be used for functions outside school use.

The English teaching department was also to be relocated in new classrooms. A new block was therefore commissioned on the edge of the school campus. The design had to take into account adjoining residential areas and provide a stimulating teaching resource.

The building is primarily used by school pupils and members of staff during term time with the facility available for hire by the public for organised meetings, functions and other events outside normal school hours.

As part of an ongoing program of works with Taunton School, we were appointed to undertake working drawings and oversee the installation of a new mezzanine floor within Marshall Day House, to provide additional space for the boy’s common room.

Design and construction of this Early Years Facility for The Priory Learning Trust, working with Kennet Construction to obtain planning permission and working drawings to enable the project to be delivered within the very tight deadline.
