Taunton Rugby Club relocated to a new out of town location. We were involved with extensive planning negotiations on the site within the flood plain and adjacent the main railway line. Facilities include changing rooms, a large function room, smaller sponsors room, members bar and associated facilities, together with a spectators stand.
A new village hall on a green field site on the edge of the village. As well as a multi purpose hall, facilities were included for the local play group. The siting required careful planning to ensure it fitted into the tree screening.
Design of a multi purpose indoor sports hall with specific facilities for indoor hockey and handball.
With the school, we carried out research and visited other buildings in the country to ensure this was a regional ‘centre of excellence’ for handball, volleyball and fencing.
The building includes fitness centre, changing rooms, fencing salle, viewing gallery, club and classrooms.
We obtained Planning Approval and the project was constructed under a design and build contract for which we were the Employer’s Agent.
A true community building in the heart of this large residential area, providing a modern church, but with the ability to be used for other purposes. Ancillary spaces allow children and youth groups of all ages to be accommodated at the same time. We spent time with the community at the outset to understand their requirements. The result has been a building that provides a visual and practical focal point for the people.
Following an initial concept as a speculative office development in the centre of Taunton, the Government Departments of Treasury Solicitors and Charity Commissioners (who were relocating from London) became prospective tenants and were involved with the briefing process, early in the design. The site was a previous gas works with considerable contamination in the ground to deal with. The design took into account the setting adjacent to the river and park, with outlook to maximise these views. Our brief included full fitting out works for the tenants.
Robert Wiseman have developed one of the largest dairies in Europe, serving the West Country, in a 33,500m² project of around £45 million. We have been involved from inception, obtaining the necessary Planning Approvals, up to completion. The building includes eventual filling capacity for 500 million litres of milk per annum, a distribution depot and a plastic bottle making facility. In addition the 22 acre site contains an effluent treatment plant, biomass boiler and vehicle maintenance depot. This was a fast track programme with negotiated contract. Ground was broken on site in September 2006 with production commencing in December 2007.
Co-ordination with the production process and services requirement was obviously essential to ensure the building allowed for current and projected needs. The size of the building and its prominent location adjacent the M5 meant that there was considerable interest in the design from client, planners and local community. The result has generally pleased all and produced a building that the client is proud of.
Second major phase of development of Abbeyfield Extra Care Home to provide for connected but separated wing for residents suffering essentially from dementia.
Accommodation includes for eight bedrooms with en-suite facilities, lounges, conservatory and other communal areas, along with own dedicated entrance.
Full remodeling of the A + E Department at Musgrove Park Hospital comprising of new waiting facilities, main reception counter, wc’s and treatment cubicles. The scheme incorporated art work to new glazed screens by local artist Dail Behennah.
Upgrade of a specialist Endoscopy department within Musgrove Park Hospital to provide enhanced facilities of a new third Endoscopy room, admission and recovery wards together with new reception and waiting areas.
Major internal and structural alterations of existing reception building to form new reception and offices with bedrooms over, together with design of new two storey extension to existing residential wing to provide additional bedrooms with ensuite facilities, dining room and lounges and other communal areas.
Formation and extension of existing car parking with new courtyards and patio areas.
